80s Hair Metal

Glam was quite popular during the seventies and eighties and was transferred to the populace mostly through music. Rock stars came to be the trend setters and such visual mediums as MTV helped spread 80s hair metal fashion. Before MTV, however, music acts such as the New York Dolls and David Bowie were pioneers in the glam scene. Glam infiltrated both rock and heavy metal. Big hair, loud clothing and men wearing makeup were signature traits of the glam metal scene. Glam also gave rise to the 80s hair metal scene starting out in the sun set strip boulevard of west Hollywood.

Bands like Motley Crew, Twisted Sister and Poison were the main bands were specialized the 80s glam metal scene. The glam scene can be seen today with Poison still making the touring rounds and new bands doing resurrecting the old scene. The most popular hotspot for glam metal is in Scandinavia where the 80s hair metal scene is very popular. Many criticize the glam scene as all flash and no substance, but the point of the scene was to portray a fun atmosphere of partying and hot girls.
