How to Tie a Cravat

Posted on 8:35 AM by fbdfbfb
The cravat is a long strip of neck tie that became fashionable around the 17th century. It was the Croatians who were first learned how to tie a Cravat. The cravat first became fashionable when the Croats served in the French in army in the early 17th century. Louis XIV became so fascinated with the Croatian neck tie he renamed it Cravats in the name of Croatia and the moment the king started wearing the garment, the fashion became popular throughout Europe. To the king, it was also a nice alternative to the high collar. From then on the cravat became a fashion accessory throughout Europe. There are differences between the cravat and ascot; the cravat being slimmer and more manageable around the neck with the ascot being thicker and more plush around the neck.

There are many ways to tie a cravat given its thin nature whereas one could not do so with a ascot or neck tie. How to tie an ascot is actually no different than tying a regular tie.

How to Tie a Cravat

- Place the cravat around your neck with the larger end hanging past the short end.

- Wrap the larger end around the smaller end then slide under the entire cravat in front of your neck

- Pull down the cravat to make it snug.

And that is how to tie a Cravat.
